Bambule has been part of Karoviertel for many years. The community was dissolved in late 2002 after policital forces had shifted and the Hamburg city government decided that Bambule could not longer exist. Police was called in and the neighborhood revolted. Up to this day, even though Bambule is effectively gone for now, its spirit remains a dominant and influential part of urban culture in this part of town.
