David Weinberger: Blogging in Germany
I said it before, I'll say it again: Blogging is not much different from what you do out in the real world. So basically, the same rules apply, especially if you want to introduce weblogs to your organization.
Rule #1: Don't be stupid.
Only share information that you would share during a telephone conversation or casual business lunch.
Rule #2: Be transparent.
There will be times when you can't be as open as you'd like to be. There will be times when customers ask a question that you can't (or are not alllowed to) answer. "Sorry, I can't answer that." People will understand.
Rule #3: Experiment.
The best way to learn about weblogs is to start your own blog. Period. Don't get stuck in the "what should I write about" process. Just do it. Start your conversation. People will listen. Sooner or later.
