Adidas & Reebok
The word is out. Adidas is to buy rivaling Reebok for € 3 billion. Over here in Germany, everyone seems to be pretty happy about the deal. It will strengthen Adidas' market position, it's a "smart business decision", God praise Adidas management for such a move. Funny.
Funny because often enough globalization is regarded as something that smells like rotten fish. BenQ buying Siemens Mobile, Lenovo acquiring IBM Personal Computing, Vattenfall picking up regional power authorities, DaimlerBenz merging with Chrysler, what have you.
Let's face it. Globalization is for real. We're right in the middle of it. It's inevitable. Sometimes it works in favor of a specific market or geographic region. Sometimes it's not so great. Life is change. Often enough, it's change for the better. But not always. That's something else these guys don't seem to comprehend.

It's great to read your views but it's a pitty links are in German :( Best wishes Mark
Living in Germany I sometimes have to link to German sources, too ;-)
If only I had the brains to understand German :(
(or anyother language for that matter!) Mark
Great comments, Heiko. And you're absolutely right. The Luddites who would have us live without civilized technology are silly, just silly. Too bad enough of them are taken seriously as to form parties like the Linke.
@Mark: "these guys" links to the party website of the left-wing PDS, the successor of the East-German communist party SED.
