Here we go

Horst Köhler has made his decision: elections in September. It was a pretty short but well formulated annoucement.

I think this is a good decision for the country. Which is not to say that it would have been more honest if Schröder had simply stepped down.

Whoever wins the upcoming elections is facing a very difficult situation. Let's hope the country is ready for change. This country needs change and it needs to move ahead. We are stuck in the mud and we probably need to get our hands dirty to escape deadlock.

I also hope voters don't fall for boneheaded extremists. Look carefully at what is put on the table and by whom. Germany is not an island. Globaliszation is a matter of fact. We can't turn back the time and there really is no reason to. Let's get moving.
