Do something
The German Social Democrats (SPD) are currently fighting many battles. Tough social welfare reforms, an unbalanced budget, unemployment; it's not easy being in power these days.
It's of no help that ex-chairman, former Minister of Finance and brother-in-arms Oskar Lafontaine is rumored to found his own leftist party. The rumors have been circulating in German media for weeks now. But nothing happens. Lafontaine seems to enjoy his rebel image. And his party does not seem eager to throw the troublemaker out, probably because he is less of a threat internally than from the outside.
But please, someone make a decision.
Lafontaine: Start your own party. Make friends with former communists. Gregor Gysi will like you. Join forces. And then go after the SPD.
Schröder: Kick him out. Or make him your successor. And then go after the PDS.
Do something. Anything. Everything else is just annoying. Really.
