My life as an alien
Little known facts about Heiko. Today: UFOs, ancient astronauts and other mysteries
As a teenager, I was hooked on aliens. A book written by Erich von Däniken triggered my interest. "Chariots of the Gods?" and its sequels fascinated me. PaleoSETI, the hunt for traces of Extra Terrestrial Intelligence in ancient artifacts, became my dominant hobby. At one point I probably read and owned every book published on the subject (well, all German and English books at least).
I joined the Ancient Astronaut Society (AAS) that was founded by Dr. Gene Phillips in 1973. The primary objectives of the AAS are to search for evidence of whether our planet was visited in the remote past by intelligent beings from outer space and to determine whether a highly developed, technological civilization existed on Earth before our recorded history.
Of course when you get engaged with visitors from out of space, dealing with UFOs and alien abductions becomes a side effect. And while there are many grey and very esoteric aspects of this whole phaenomenon, I have always tried to seperate facts from modern mysteries.
It sure is fascinating to hear first-hands reports from people that claim having been abducted by "something" unexplainable. I have personnally met two of most prominent abductees, Betty Andreasson and Charles Hickson and listened to their stories. I went to Gulf Breeze, Florida in an (hopeless) attempt to see a UFO with my bare eyes. I also joined the Mutual UFO Network, an organization dedicated to the scientific study of UFOs. MUFON is a counterpart to sceptic organizations like Werner Walter's German CENAP. We fought many interesting battles and sure let many questions unanswered.
I participated in yearly events like the annual AAS meetings and met people like Johnannes von Buttlar (remember the face on Mars?), Ulrich Dopatka and Johannes Fiebag. Together with Marc Theobald I published a semi-monthly "fanzine", Independent Science, as well as the official AAS proceedings. I connected Erich von Däniken with Algund Eenboom who then went on reconstructing ancient flying objects.
When the time is right, I will hopefully manage to (re)publish some memories from those times. It sure was interesting.
