Maybe we will all die. Maybe not.

CNN quoting "sources": Major terror attack possible this summer

[...] there is no specific target, time or date for the possible attack [...] sources would not describe who those persons are and why they are wanted now.
Could a news report get more ambiguous? Is there any way to phrase it even more imprecisely? What are we supposed to do now? Duck and cover until November? Stock up on duct tape and water supplies? Are we just supposed to live in fear? Should we be reminded to pick a holiday destination outside the United States? Will European governments issue travel warnings for North America? Are you telling us Homeland Security can produce nothing more concrete than this? Maybe I will die in a car crash. Maybe not.

Comments to this weblog entry:

Is this a way to make sure the American people are terrified, so that it will work in George W.'s favour when they vote in November?

As John Maynard Keynes once put it:
"In the long run we are all dead" ;-)

But the likelyhood of you dying in a car accident is multiple times higher than the likelyhood of you dying in a terrorist attack. Are we getting our priorities right?

seems homeland security (whoever) accidentially found an old copy of george orwells "1984" in the basement and uses it as a "ruling the dummies for dummies"-handbook. obviously they didn't think about that most of us read it in school.

we know your foul tricks, you charlatans!
