Terrorists should be blogging, too

Don't bash me. Read before you claim that I oversimplify the issues at stake.
Terrorism is wrong. To use murder and destruction as a political weapon is wrong. Causing death and grief in order to get any attention is wrong. It is wrong no matter if these acts are committed by non-government groups or as a state policy.
I do not want to listen to your arguments after your killing of dozens or even hundreds or thousands of innocent people, even more so if these acts of violence are at random and there is no chance whatsoever to escape. You might have gotten attention, but you just lost your political voice. There is no gain in credibility by proving your capability to blow up cars, trains or buildings. "Look, Ma, I did this all myself!" Honestly, it does not impress me much. Not at all. But even though I might be numb, I have not lost my voice. And I have chosen to use that very voice to speak out against terrorism and give you filthy creatures some advice.
Obviously, you have issues. Obviously, you feel your freedom is at stake. Obviously, you are not happy with the way things are and you want to change them. And obviously, you are very, very desperate. Desperate because you feel that you are not being heard and that there is no way for you to express yourself.
Well, I got news for you, Mr. Terrorist. Every obnoxious script kiddy figured out how to use the Internet to get global attention. The idiot spammers of this world managed to turn penis enlargement pills into common household items. And you are telling me that bombs are your only choice?
Set up a damn weblog and start blogging, stupid.

Take Russia's war in Chechnya, for instance. Information isn't the problem. The whole world knows what these people are slaughtered for, it's just that nobody cares. The same goes for Guantanamo, Palestine, etc. Now I'm not saying who is right or who is wrong in these conflicts. I'm just saying that the majority of people will not be able to change these conflicts by using the internet to provide information about what's being done to them.
setting up bombs won't make things better, of course. It's desperate.

I agree with Moe -- and there's more to the spam analogy: The idiot spammers of the world are not getting all the attention they want, they are getting filtered out (with more or less success). Terrorism is about not getting filtered out, about not only getting some attention, but all attention and finally about terrifying people. A weblog isn't an option here, I'm afraid.

I doubt that terrorist acts stand for getting attention. My take is that in their idiocy they firmly believe that a dead person such as the 3/11 or 9/11 victims is one less against their theory or whatever-they-have-against-the-civilized-world. Let's not forget that there's only a few of them who are smart or educated - mainly the leaders, the rest are just brainless executors. There's a lot of autosuggestion and a lot of ideas they take from granted from their leaders. As for the master of puppets my guess is that everything is centered more around money and less around religion. Religion has historically been the main reason behind wars, crusades, etc. And this means nterests of power or money.

I completely disagree with the first comment (moe). if the people don't care, it's because it doesn't concern them. this might be true. but if terrorists threat their lives, they might care enough - to vote for a government to start war on terrorism or support the american policy. There is absolutely bo chance terrorists will get understanding, let alone support, for their acts of violence. You know, violence is a word that is not great enough to describe what terror is all about. terror is about first of all KILLING, with each kill changing permanently the course of life of entire families, attempting to ruin the families. terror is about planting fear in the people. this is much more than violence, in my opinion. The people that don't care, as you say, are blind in my opinion. maybe these people will get their ability to see when a terror organization will get it's hands on a non-conventional weapon, say - a nuclear bomb.
