iPod update

Let's write about geeky stuff. I went through upgrading my iPod's firmware today. For the Windows version of the update software Apple now requires you to run Windows 2000 SP 4 so I paid a visit to Windowsupate and watched as the service pack was magically applied to my system. After a dozen reboots or so I actually got to install the new iPod Manager and had the device sync to firmware version 2.1. My hope is this will have a positive effect on battery life since that has been on a steep decline in the past weeks. I might need to have the battery replaced after all, but I want to make sure I have tried the alternate route before calling up Apple's Support Hotline.
As a side effect, I can now play Solitaire on my iPod - something I had always wanted to do as bad as being able to check email with my toaster.
