I’ll try to make this short. Like you I was born in Germany, Berlin, in fact. However, I’ve been living here since I was 8 years old. And for almost 30 years I’ve been a freelance writer, (if you’re interested you can find out more about this on ttp://www.toonhound.com/wartalk.htm.) When my mother died a few years ago I decided to try and find out what happened to my German father. My mother had told me he’d died at Stalingrad. But when I contacted the Deutsche Dienstelle I discovered he’d died in 1987! Then there’s the sister I never knew I had. Der Fuhrer makes an appearance, along with Josef Goebbles and Richard Schulz-Kossens who was one of Hitler’s SS adjutants in the bunker when he died. In fact, it sounded so much like a plot for one of those film noirs, (The Third Man springs to mind), that I decided to turn it into a book. However, I decided to put the basic details in a blog to see what reaction I got.
